“A chance discovery on a Cabernet Sauvignon vine in 1977 has resulted in two of Australia’s newest and most exciting grape varieties – the White Cabernet Sauvignon we call Shalistin and the Bronze Cabernet Sauvignon we call Malian”.
But it doesn’t stop there; at Bleasdale Vineyards you can see their huge red gum basket press.
Frank Potts' greatest achievement was a basket press, constructed in 1862 using a ten metre, 3.5 tonne red gum tree as a lever rather than the traditional screw mechanism. Frank claimed the technology, which he had first observed in Portugal, provided a slower, more gradual pressing of the grapes without any mechanical intervention.
Today the National Trust listed winery is home to the latest winemaking technology, but on special occasions the winemakers still indulge in the distinct pleasure of producing a reserve wine with a 140 year old red gum wine press.”
Your tour to Langhorne Creek will also include a visit to taste Bremerton Wines and Lake Breeze Wines where we consume the most delectable lunch, as they say ‘fit for a King’. With your indulgence comparatively concluded our passage back to your lodgings’ takes in the Southern Lofty Ranges scenic drive, where you’ll experience the quaint villages of Strathalbyn, Meadows and Clarendon.
You will see the view of Adelaide from the Hills - and beautiful she is, before arriving ‘back in town’.
